We are a provencal family living in a small village called "Mallemort de Provence" inthe south of France. Mallemort is an old hill-top village built during the middle ages and is situated between Aix en Provence and Avignon in a quiet and beautiful area close to the Durance River, the Pont Royal golf club and the National Park of the Luberon.
We have an appartment for rent in Provence.. (first floor of our house) with access to a lovely garden. The farmer's market, downtown, the tourist office, several restaurants and bus line is only 5 min. by foot!!
A perfect quiet place for your vacation and open all year !!

The appartment has 2 bedrooms, a dining room and a modern kitchen that opens to the garden, and a lounge for relaxing, reading... The garden has many fruit trees and aromatic plants...
Come for a visit and explore Mallemort and all that is in the area !
Since we like old fruit varieties, many years ago we planted 3 pomegranate trees in our garden. It's a real pleasure in autum when we are fortunate to reap many kilos of fruit. In June, the flowersare bright red and orange, with four to five petals . Some fruitless varieties are grown for the flowers alone. Pomegranate derives from medieval latin pomum"apple" and granatum "seeded".This has influenced the common name for pomegranate in many languages ; Granatapfel or Grenadine in German, grenade in French, pomogranà in Italien....
You also have the option of taking a Eurostar train to Lille and then TGV train down to Avignon or Aix. (You can also Eurostar to Paris but then you have to change stations rather than platforms as at Lille). On Saturdays there is a direct Eurostar train from London to Avignon that takes about 6 hours.
FROM THE REST OF THE WORLD,you will most likely fly into Paris CDG airport. From there you can connect to an Air France flight down to Marseille (1 hour)
Perhaps the better option from Paris CDG is to take the train. The TGV (fast train) takes 2 hours and 40 minutes to Avignon TGV station. There you can rent a car from all the major companies.
We rent a nice appartment in our house (first floor) which is open throughout the year.

Mallemort is a village that has a lot of history hidden between its walls. The people are very nice and always greet someone when passing them on the street. They are always willing to help out tourists that are not from here and do not understand their language or traditions. The houses are quite funny but very interesting and tell their own little story. Some get renovated but others are still wearing their original stone clothing. I also really like the little shops that are spread around the main street. There is a different shop for everything that one might need. Mallemort is like a little book to read in with a new surprise on every page.

Mallemort is a pleasant market town in the northern corner of the department right next to the Durance river and the department of Vaucluse. The old village was built on a rocky spur to provide protection when the Durance burst its banks. Mallemort is lucky to be strategically located less than an hour from Marseille airport, and a stone's throw from the perched villages of the Luberon and the Alpilles, Avignon, the Camargue, Aix en provence....
As you stroll around, you'll discover Mallemort's delightful narrow old streets, you can admire a beautiful 17th century house and an interesting 17th century church topped by a steeple and a spire.
In the Juiverie quarter you'll discover Romain remains as well as the ruins of the castle that once belonged to the bishops of Marseille, from 1260 to 1789.
From the village you have a superb panoramic view of the agricultural plain and the Durance valley. You'll be able to spot the old 19th century suspension bridge, with its original wooden roadway (now closed to traffic due to its condition). A new bridge has been built parallel to it so you can admire the old bridge along its entire length.
Since 1987, Proquartet's mission has been the promotion of chamber music - in particular the string quartet- and the training of musicians. Today, this unique musical structure has a national and international scope. Dissemination performance, training, residency hostings and cultural outreach are the principal activities of the organisation.
Chamber musicians from the most prestigious ensembles of their generation (such as the Amadeus, Lasalle and Alban Berg quartets) transmit to young ensembles their experience in interpretation, repertoire and performance. The numerous prizes awarded to past students is clear evidence of the quality of the training they receive.
Enjoyed "la vallée des loisirs" with 3 swimming pool , (one with the waves ! ), huge toboggans in the hill, pedagogic farm, mini golf, beach volley, pétanque...
Overlooking the Durance River as far as the foothhills of Luberon, Mallemort has a definite Provence identity with its bell tower, squares, small streets, pedestrian zones, fountains, bars and many restaurants...
The departements of Bouches-du-Rhône, much appreciated by tourists, have almost a dozen 18-hole courses. Between Alpilles and Lubéron : discover International Pont-Royal, Golf Club !
A golf course with scents of Provence designed by Severiano Ballesteros Pont Royal is a course fragrant with Provencal plant varieties, located between Luberon and Alpilles, and which reveals the ardor of its creator Severiano Ballesteros, tempered by the desire to offer golfers a challenge within their reach.
Amateurs will be at ease here, where professionals have already pounded these impeccably maintained fairways several times during both men’s and women’s professional tours.
